The Story

This is one of the greatest stories of love and inspiration of our day. In 1977 Charlie Wedemeyer was diagnosed with ALS and given 1 year to live.  Over thirty years later and now totally paralyzed, he and Lucy continue to show the world that victory and joy in life are possible no matter what type of difficulties we face.  Featuring video clips from the PBS film “One More Season” & CBS film “Quiet Victory”, COURAGE TO LIVE will take you on a journey of triumph over heartache, victory over death and finding joy in the midst of adversity.

Shot over a 16 year period, COURAGE TO LIVE is the remarkable account of how love, hope and faith can conquer the biggest obstacles of life. This is a story of high school sweethearts, a national football championship in college, a successful coaching career, a diagnosis of death and victory in the face of insurmountable odds.  Now their story is told in a remarkable new inspirational DVD that includes uplifting appearances by a number of sports & entertainment celebrities, words of encouragement from the Wedemeyers and Zig Ziglar, a message of hope for ALS patients and families, and a special section on teaching others to overcome adversity.
