After 34 years with ALS Charlie passed away June 3, 2010 after a long battle with complications from diabetes. Here is the announcement from the family. We join them in celebrating a life that was more than amazing. A new chapter begins for a family destined to touch the world with hope and faith.

Greetings to all of our family and friends,

It comes with both great sadness and much rejoicing that Charlie has been called home to meet his Heavenly Father.

After a courageous battle, Charlie has succumbed to complications from multiple surgeries and infection.

At 3:30 in the morning we were awakened by Kale coming to the house. He told Carri and Lucy that his dad wasn’t doing well and it was time to go say goodbye. Charlie was heavily sedated so there was no suffering in the end. Lucy, Carri, Kale, and nurses close to the family spent 4 hours praying and singing hymns from our “family hymnal”. I know it was a precious time for everyone there.

It is surreal to think this man who has suffered immeasurably is now gone from this world and is now in a place where there is no sin, no pain, no sickness, nor anymore death.

Praise God for the hope we have in Jesus Christ! Thank God for choosing Charlie to be one of his own.

It has been said for those of us who know the Redeemer Jesus Christ, this is NOT, nor will it be, our best life now; our best life is yet to come- Hallelujah, Amen!

Services are scheduled for Saturday, June 19th in San Jose at the HP Pavilion where the San Jose Sharks play.

May God be glorified in all our circumstances.

Have Faith, Peace & Joy in Life

One of the greatest questions we can ask is about faith in God. For Charlie and Lucy faith is not a question, it is an essential part of their lives. In this portion of the video we hear from Micheal Nouri who describes how he sees Charlie’s walk in life and how amazing it is. We also hear from Joni Eareckson Tada and the Wedemeyers as they talk about faith, what it is to them and how it has gotten them through the difficult times. Kale Wedemeyer states it simply and eloquently, “Faith for my family is simple…it’s OK”. Watch this portion of the video and understand that faith is not a complex concept, it is an easy decision to accept that no matter what we face in life “it’s OK” if we believe.

Charlie & Lucy – Testify to Love

This is one of the greatest love stories of our day. In this final segment Charlie and Lucy give us their final words of wisdom and Zig Ziglar and others talk about the Wedemeyers and what their story means to us. For many people they are the perfect representation of hope and commitment in marriage. To others they are an example of what we can obtain if we surrender our lives and follow where our destiny leads. No matter what, this segment and the program ends with a final montage set to the award winning song from Avalon “Testify to Love”. For Charlie and Lucy it isn’t about what they have or have not obtained. It is about showing all of us how they have lived life to the fullest in the midst of adversity that we can’t even comprehend. The Life Changing Miracle

Charlie & Lucy’s lives were changed forever in 1986 when a verifiable miracle occurred in their lives. Charlie was very near death when a nurse comes to the house and asks if she can pray for him. As she prays the presence of God begins to fill the room and when they look up the evidence is clear. A verifiable miracle has taken place and Charlie begins to breath better and eat for the first time in weeks.
Thus begins a new chapter in Charlie & Lucy’s lives. Watch this part of the video and share in this miracle as told by Charlie and Lucy as well as another nurse who was in the room when the prayer was happening. Share this with friends who need a lift.
